Each Eye is individual, and every person unique. To achieve good outcomes after cataract surgery both the Eye and the person must be considered.During your consultation with Mr Lake, you will discuss your lifestyle and hobbies before a detailed Eye examination.

The surgery is performed under local anaesthetic (eye drops only usually) as a day case for the majority of people but some may prefer general anaesthetic which is available.

The cataract is fragmented with Ultrasound and removed by aspiration through modern Microincision Cataract Surgery (MICS).

To improve the vision after the cataract is removed a prosthetic lens is implanted inside the Eye during the procedure. Each lens is measured bespoke for your Eye, based upon  pre operative measurements, using advanced diagnostics.

Each Person is unique, and the lens selected for you, will depend upon your requirements, lifestyle and the unique features of your eye. Lenses are available to treat astigmatism (toric lenses), short sightedness, long-sightedness and for those who wish to see in the far distance, middle distance and up close (trifocal lenses).
